Isabel's Revision Archive

the vast collection of resources i used to survive gcse english!

What is this?

As the website name suggests, this is an extensive archive of revision resources that I personally used for my GCSE English exams during 2024!

Why make it?

As someone who aimed for the top grades, I have firsthand experience of the unnecessary struggles when it comes to finding sophistictated revision resources that would set my work apart from everyone elses. My goal is for teacher and students alike to share, suggest, and benefit from this website.

What's included?

Currently, this website includes resources for:A Christmas Carol, Romeo & Juliet, Blood Brothers, Power & Conflict PoetryIn the future, I hope to provide more resources for other texts such as:
An Inspector Calls, Jekyll & Hyde, Love & Relationships Poetry

disclaimers!!

This website is a huge work in progress, there may be bugs or a general lack of resources available for specific sections. My personal resources may be difficult to understand, vague or unfinished. As I add more, I'll make sure to simplify the layout of certain notes for ease of access. These resources are currently only catered towards the AQA English Literature and Language specification.

planning essentials (aka: the secret to success!)

The secret to success isn't cramming, nor is it studying endlessly for 12 hours every single day. An unhealthy, unbalanced academic lifestyle will only grant you a one-way ticket to burnout town. It's just not sustainable! Take it from somebody who's been in the trenches firsthand; burnout isn't pretty. The only surefire way to guarantee those illusive 7-9 grades is to compartmentalise your revision. Planning out your study time while doing things you enjoy will not only keep you mentally and physically healthy; it will help consolidate an efficient routine and good habits for further education. e.g: A-Levels or University.

a message from me

If there's one thing you gain from this website, I hope it helps you realise that you don't have to face this alone. Revising can be daunting; when faced with the prospect of failure, letting people down, or not living up to your expectations, even picking up a pen can feel impossible at times.Regardless of the grade you're aiming for, please know that whatever you achieve doesn't determine your worth. You are more than your candidate number, and so much more than the grade you get in that envelope. For the sake of your well-being, it's crucial to maintain a healthy attitude towards your academic progress, when you reflect on how far you've come, you'll surprise yourself! One of the hardest things when faced with these feelings is talking about them. It's okay to reach out for help, you never know what support may come your way if you open up.Personally, one of the toughest barriers I overcame during my time in
Year 11 was accepting that not everything I write will be perfect, mistakes are simply part of being human, it's what makes us human. Furthermore, experiencing emotions comes under that umbrella too. The stress and pressure you may feel regarding your exams aren't new, there will always be somebody out there who wants to help.
If you try your absolute hardest, and walk out the exam hall knowing you've done all you could, that is simply all anybody can ask for.The only thing getting in the way of your success is yourself. You've got this!

If you're struggling:

If you or somebody you know is struggling to cope, please reach out. Whether that be a friend, parent, teacher, or trusted adult. You don't have to face it alone.
